53.5.4.Transfer BarrierA transfer barrier type Accumulator (Refer to pages72 ~73) can be used as a substitute for a hydraulicpump by transferring or transmitting fluids, with thebladder being operated as a piston to let a fluid (oil orgas) flow into and out of the Accumulator intermittent-ly.By adding backup nitrogen gas bottles to thesystems, a transfer barrier type Accumulator candischarge a greater volume of fluid even when thedifference between the maximum and minimumsystem pressure is small.Shock DampeningRapid opening and closing of valves can createshock waves in a hydraulic system. These shockconditions can create noise, damage, and prematurefailure to hoses, fittings, and other components. An Accumulator can be used to eliminate the shock ina hydraulic system.Pulsation DampeningTo obtain efficiencies of “energy storage”,“shockdampening”, and “pulsation dampening” at the sametime, an Accumulator with “Super Pulse Damper” or “Pulse Damper” is suitable. (Refer to pages 74 ~77.)An Accumulator can be used to dampen shocksand pulsations caused by pumps, protect a hydraulicsystem from surge and vibration, and eliminate noise. An in-line type Accumulator is most effective forpulsation dampening application. (Refer to pages 82 ~85.)
